Sharing a Valentine’s Day fondue surprise and simple Valentine’s Day decor.
I made a Valentine’s Day charcuterie board last year. This year, I wanted to do something different for the kids. I was at Walmart and came across some mini dipper pots and thought a chocolate and cheese fondue would be perfect for Valentine’s Day! The concept of having fondue is so fun. It brings me back to when Nick and I were engaged. I was interning at an accounting firm in Minneapolis, and I remember going on a date to The Melting Pot which is a fondue restaurant. Oh, the memories!
For the Valentine’s Day fondue setup, I bought some Better Homes & Gardens goodies from Walmart:
I placed these white chairs that came in a set of 2 in front of the table for more sitting space. Now time to decorate!
Decor
Here is what the kids woke up to! Balloons are a great way to make the area look over the top, but still making it simple. I ordered some pink heart balloons from the party store and taped the string on the bench or floor to keep it in place. Then I blew up some pink balloons and placed those on the floor.
I got a pretty bouquet of flowers when I was at Walmart and used a pitcher instead of a typical vase. How often do you use your pitchers? Might as well use it as a vase! To bring in some pink accents, I got this Better Homes & Gardens at Walmart candle. It smells so good! You can never have enough candles!
I’m obsessed with that tassel floral pillow in the front there. Love the sage color, and it also comes in yellow! If you want to add more color, you can just flip it to the other side because the pattern in the back is pretty too!
Fondue
The chocolate recipe and cheese recipe are both from Pinterest.
Here are some chocolate fondue dipper ideas:
marshmallows
pretzels
strawberries
bananas
pound cake
apples
Here are some cheese fondue dipper ideas:
french bread
soft pretzels (my kids prefer these for the chocolate fondue)
potatoes
broccoli
cauliflower
I placed all the chocolate fondue dippers in these small acacia wood bowls. Johannah and I are both obsessed with making acai bowls, and I was telling her that these bowls would be perfect for those!
I placed the cheese fondue dippers in this 3 tier stand. There’s a lot of room on these trays!
Each kid had a jute placemat, big dinner bowl, and dipping forks. These cream dinner bowls are classic and simple, and this stoneware also comes in a 16 piece dinnerware set.
My kids prefer the chocolate fondue and didn’t even touch the cheese fondue. HA! I’ll remember for next time to do both chocolate.
It was a great Valentine’s Day breakfast before heading off to school!
Fondue is a great idea for special occasions, date nights, holidays…or just for a simple dessert! Your husband, significant other, or kids will love it!
