Thank you Better Homes and Gardens at Walmart for sponsoring this post!
Scents and fragrances can get you in the holiday spirit. Who lights a candle and the smell reminds you of the holidays? I got this adorable Better Homes and Gardens tree farm candle warmer and set an incense and evergreen wax cube on it. It reminded me of going to the tree farm as a family and cutting down a Christmas tree. When we would get home from cutting down the tree, we would wait to decorate the tree because it was so much work getting it in the house. In the past few years, we would have 15′- 17′ trees. It was a lot of work, but that tree looked beautiful in the living room with our tall vaulted ceilings. I always say that the holidays were always the best in that house! After we would get the tree in the house, we would hang out as a family which usually meant enjoying a movie and some popcorn.
I love decorating with lanterns, and I like to use lanterns inside the home and outside at the front porch. Instead of putting candles in the lanterns, you can always put greenery or red berry stems to add more color to a space. This black house lantern is perfect in Cecilia’s house, and it also comes galvanized which I can see more in my house.
My twin sister and I live 20 minutes away from each other, and our kids always want to hang out. It was so much easier when we were all living together while they were building their house. Now that we live apart, we’re always thinking of ways to get the kids together. We decided to have a holiday movie night at her house, and the kids were so excited! We set up a popcorn bar, and I don’t know if the kids were more excited about the popcorn or the candy. 😉 I loved these big Better Homes and Gardens porcelain popcorn bowls and individual popcorn bowls I got from Walmart. The individual popcorn bowls come in a set of 4, and it’s the perfect size for the kids.
I put the candy, marshmallows, and pretzels in these white square mugs. It was perfect because it came in a set of 6! For the candy, I had Twizzlers bites, gummy bears, and two different kinds of M&M’s.
While we were setting up, I don’t know how many times the kids asked, “Can we eat now?”
Another thing you can add to the popcorn bar is some popcorn seasoning. My kids love those, and you can get different flavors like white cheddar, ranch, and garlic parmesan.
Now to pick what to watch because with 8 kids, they can’t all agree on the same movie sometimes! They cuddled up under these cozy blankets! Pictured is the buffalo check and the green plaid blankets. It actually comes in a total of 16 patterns! The kids actually fight over it at our house it’s that soft and cozy.
I don’t know if they did more eating or watching. 😉 Here they are grabbing seconds!
When I think of the holidays, I think of lots of traditions and family time. The kids grow up so fast that having moments like these like a holiday movie night lets us slow down and enjoy each other. What are your favorite family moments during the holidays? I love getting more ideas from others!
