New year, new house! I can’t believe that we’ve been building for almost 2 years now! The time has finally come, and we are moving into the new house this weekend!! I’m still in shock that it’s finally happening! I thought this day would never come. 😉 One of my goals for the new house is to be more organized…especially in the bathroom, kitchen, and pantry drawers. When you have things organized in sections and compartments, it makes everyone’s life easier, and it’s prettier to look at!
In the new house, there are a lot of cabinets and drawers in the kitchen and the pantry. The kitchen has two islands, and the pantry is a walk-in pantry. I’m all about “hiding” stuff, so when I was designing both these spaces, cabinets/drawers were more important to me than having floating shelves. It’s crazy how much stuff you can accumulate in a pantry! Of course, that’s where all the snacks, food, and baking ingredients go, but that’s also where we keep paper towels, garbage bags, small appliances, ziplock bags, aluminum foil, etc. Today, I wanted to share with you how I organized some of the spaces in the new house! I focused on the baking drawer, snack drawer, utensil drawers, and fruit/vegetable cabinet! We’re still waiting on some kitchen countertops and cabinet/drawer hardware to be installed, but you get the idea. 😉
Johannah, my daughter, is the baker in the family, so she was very excited to see all the baking ingredients in these clear containers. I ended up getting three boxes of the 4 pack canister set, but you can also get individual ones like these 16 cup containers. Love how these containers seal, keeping food fresh, and it’s easy to open by lifting the clear handle up. I also like how you can stack these containers. Now I just need to get labels for these!
I also put crackers, noodles, and chips in these clear containers. My kids are in charge of putting away groceries, so part of that “job” is to now pour snacks in the containers and getting rid of the boxes right away.
Here’s the snack drawer! I put the prepackaged snacks in these hyacinth baskets to keep them separated.
I also put the cereal in these rectangle containers.
I placed our flatware in this expandable drawer organizer:
I placed another one of these organizers in the drawer next to it for the fine china flatware that we got from Nick’s parents. Once we start unpacking and find that box, it will go in this drawer.
For the bigger utensils, I used a combo of the long drawer organizer, set of 5 organizer, and adjustable drawer dividers. If I didn’t have these, the drawers would be a HOTMESS!
For one of the cabinets, I placed these stackable baskets in there for fruits and vegetables. These stackable baskets come in a large size and medium size.
One of the things you buy when moving into a house is bathroom wastebaskets. I ended up getting a marble one for Johannah’s bathroom and a black two-tone one for the boys’ bathroom. (don’t mind the dust…the cleaning crew still has to clean the house before we move in)
To keep Johannah’s bathroom drawers organized, I ended up using this drawer organizer set that are stackable.
I hope you enjoyed this blog post! Gosh it feels good to have the new house organized!
