Today, I wanted to talk to you about my vision for the pool house and what Hestan appliances I plan on putting in the bar area. If you missed the blog post talking about how we converted the basement garage to the pool house, definitely check it out. I debated for the longest time what vibe I wanted this space to be. For most pool houses, it has that summery and coastal feel which I love, but for ours, I decided to go with a casual coastal romantic vibe. Did I make up that style? Maybe. 😉 Here’s the mood board for that space!
Below is an image of the space during the drywall stage. The wall with the windows will have cabinets and appliances, and the opposite wall is where we plan on putting a tv. Then by the bathroom will be a row of lockers to hang towels and store pool stuff. That back doorway leads to the basement living room.
With a pool, we know that we’ll be entertaining a lot. If anything, I know Cecilia’s family will be over a lot. 😉 When we were discussing this space, a wall of cabinets was necessary. Having a big counter space would be perfect for setting out food when we have people over. I’m also all about hiding stuff and keeping everything hidden, so I love how there are cabinets to not have it cluttered on the countertops. Here’s the layout of the cabinets:
I’ve mentioned before that we are working with Hestan for our kitchen appliances, and I’m so excited to have Hestan appliances in our pool house too! We will be having two Hestan appliances in the pool house. A fridge and freezer was a must for this space, but we didn’t want a full-size one because there wasn’t room for it. I was so happy to see that they offer undercounter appliances! We decided to go with the 24″ undercounter refrigerator drawer and freezer drawer instead of the double refrigerator drawers. I wanted a refrigerator to store cold drinks and ingredients and a freezer to keep frozen treats like popsicles and ice cream. There are 12 colors to choose from, and I picked “froth” which is the white color.
A lot of the Hestan undercounter appliances are UL certified for outdoor and indoor use, so if you wanted to have this same refrigerator/freezer drawer for an outdoor space you can! It has LED interior lighting (blue or white) and heavy-duty full-extension drawer slides making it easy to find what you need! The doors on the drawers can also lock.
The other appliance we will have in the pool house is a 24″ undercounter double faucet beer dispenser. Nick and I are actually the most excited about this one! 😉 As you know, we purchased the Winterset Cidery last year, and we’ve always said that our cider tastes so much better and refreshing on tap. What better way than to pour a glass of our cider while we enjoy the pool. To top it off, the windows are Marvin Signature Ultimate Gliders which is perfect for the pool house. You can remove the sash making that area completely open. On the outside under those windows, we plan on putting a bar and some stools where people can sit, hang out, and watch tv. I can just picture it now…pouring a glass of cider to our friends and family using the Hestan beer dispenser and handing the glass over to someone outside. This setup works perfectly with our outdoor space!
This double faucet beer dispenser has 5.2 cubic feet storage capacity and can hold one 1/4 barrel (pony keg) or two 1/6 barrels (5 gallon). I already have a feeling that we’ll be doing 2 barrels because I know we won’t be able to decide on only one flavor to be on tap. I think it would be fun to have people over to try our new flavors too! To match the undercounter refrigerator and freezer drawers, I also selected a froth color for the beer dispenser.
The Hestan beer dispenser is also UL certified for outdoor and indoor use. Here are a few images of it in an outdoor space:
Similar to the refrigerator and freezer drawers, it has LED interior lighting and door locks. You can also change out the tap handles as shown below, so we will definitely change it out to our Winterset Cidery ones!
I hope you enjoyed this blog post! I can’t wait to show you more of the pool house progress! Nick and I are looking forward to sharing these Hestan appliances actually in use!
