Dining Room refresh Under $300

When we first moved into the rental, we had no dining table. Our dinners consisted of eating around the kitchen island. That got old fast, so we found a folding table that we had from hosting family Christmas. We made that work, and enjoy our Sunday dinners on that folding table!

When you’re living in a rental and there’s still unpacked boxes around and nothing in the house is decorated, you crave that homey feeling! I’ve told people before that when we lived in our old house, it took a year to have that house feel like ‘home.’ Don’t get me wrong, you don’t need a decorated house to feel at home, but it does feel good to look at a spot in your home clutter-free, decorated, and simply pretty to look at!

When Better Homes and Gardens at Walmart challenged us to refresh a space for under $300, the first room that came up in my mind was the dining room! I’ve never been so excited to order dining room furniture!

I love the look of white furniture! I’m a neutral girl, so I went with these white spindle back chairs. These chairs come in a set of 2, and you can get these in black, white, or natural color.

This dining table was a steal! I couldn’t believe it was only $129! As you can see, I got the white table, but there’s a black version of this table that’s also eye-catching.

So far, I’ve spent $257.74 on the dining room by getting a new dining table and two sets of spindle back dining chairs. I know I can probably just place a vase and flowers to the table and call it good, but I added these jute placemats and blue and white plates and bowls. When you add items like these to your dining table, it dresses it up more! Since I went with white furniture, I added color to this space by bringing in colored items like a rug, centerpiece, placemats, plates, and pillows.

The rug, metal chairs, vase, cups, and tulips I already had in my basement, but I did buy $10 fresh flowers to put in the vase. My total bill was $297.11, so I spent less than $300 to refresh my dining room!
