decorating the mudroom and guest room for the holidays // pier 1 imports
This post is sponsored by Pier 1 Imports, but all ideas and opinions are our own.
This is the second year that we’ve celebrated Christmas in the new house. For some odd reason, this girl is in the holiday decorating spirit because I’m going all out. In the past years, I’ve always just decorated my dining room, living room, and foyer. Last year I added the master bedroom, but this year I’m adding more rooms to decorate. There are some rooms in the house that you don’t think about decorating for the holidays, but we’re going to show you how it can easily be done! Cecilia and I are focusing on a couple rooms that we wouldn’t usually decorate, but we decided to revamp the mudroom and guest bedroom with the help of Pier 1 Imports! We love how Pier 1 Imports inspires customers to have fun decorating their homes and expressing their personal style with unique furnishings and endless creative possibilities.
Now let’s focus on the mudroom first. For this area, I wanted to add a few simple and white/neutral decor pieces.
Depending on the number of hooks you have in your mudroom, you can hang a mini holiday wreath. A mini wreath like this is mostly used to hang behind a dining room chair, but it’s small enough that you can hang it in your mudroom depending on the locker space.
Another piece that we added are these fun jingle bell door hanger. Why not hang it on your mudroom hook instead of a door knob? Instead of this jingle bell door hanger, you can also hang a stocking. We love this Snowflake Stocking from Pier 1 Imports that lights up!
As mentioned, we were going for the white/neutral theme, so this small white reindeer was the perfect addition to the mudroom. The kids are obsessed with this!
We then added these adorable white snowflakes to each wood crate to give it that winter vibe. These snowflakes are actually ornaments, but now you can see how versatile ornaments are! You can hang them anywhere instead of on a tree. Instead of an ornament, you can also use a floral stem to decorate the wood crate.
Pillows and blankets make any space more cozy, so we always try to add those items to any space. We love this soft ivory knit faux fur trim throw, and it looks perfect in this space!
What do you all think of the mudroom decorated for the holidays?? Now if only we can keep it looking like this all the time 😉
Now on to the next room! I wouldn’t usually decorate my guest bedroom for the holidays since that room never gets used, but since Cecilia and Blaine sleep in there we thought it would be nice to decorate that space. If you’re confused, Cecilia and her family are living with us while they prepare to build their home. Our guest bedroom is in the basement, and that’s Cecilia and Blaine’s room. I joke that there’s a sign in the guest bedroom that says “Stay Awhile,” but that doesn’t mean stay forever 😉
We decided to go with the red accents in the guest bedroom. The first thing we did was add this medium red metal lantern. Instead of placing candles inside the lantern, we added this frosted berry and pine pick. You guys know how I’m obsessed with anything flocked and has berries!
Pillows and throws are a great way to add color to your space. You know that ivory knit faux fur trim throw in the mudroom? Well, we love it that much that we have the red version of it too! The red knit faux fur trim throw adds that pop of red against that the white bedding.
We have a white tray in the guest bedroom which is perfect for placing this santa plate of goodies and these white faux fur mugs of hot chocolate. It’s winter time, so doesn’t everyone want to stay in with your pajamas, enjoy some hot chocolate, and eat some cookies?!
There’s something about twinkling lights during this holiday season, so we added glimmer lights in the lantern, headboard, and white tray.
Hopefully you got some tips on how you can decorate rooms/spaces that you don’t think about! All of the products mentioned below are available at your local Pier 1 Imports store location or www.pier1.com.
