Fire pit grilling in our backyard!
Nick was a boy scout and camped a lot growing up, so he’s pretty knowledgeable on making camping food. For me, I’m more of the glamping type, but I thought… “Why don’t we do some fire pit grilling out in our backyard?!” It’s a way to enjoy some camping food at home!
cast iron
Nick likes using cast iron when camping, and we have the Lodge cast iron 5 piece set and the 12 inch skillet from Walmart. Some people might overlook cast iron cooking, but he has used these numerous times as a boy scout, while making shore lunches at fishing trips, and cooking dessert on tubing trips. Cast iron is great for indoor cooking too!
The menu for the night was filets, potatoes, chocolate strawberry cherry cake, mushrooms/onions, and acorn squash/apples with cinnamon and brown sugar.
If you didn’t know, these pans already come preseasoned and are ready to use!
OUTDOOR GRILLING
The kids helped bring all the food outside to the fire pit area. Time to start cooking!
I got this grill rack from Walmart, and it’s the 36×18″ size. Make sure you measure your fire pit before purchasing! A smaller size grill is also available.
I wish you all could hear the sizzle on these potatoes and filets!
outdoor lounge set
Our kids thought this outdoor cooking on the fire pit thing was so cool. We all hung outside by the fire pit and watched Nick cook. 😉
This outdoor lounge set is from Walmart, and I’m so happy with them! These have held up well and are perfect for this area. It comes with a couch, two swivel chairs, and nesting tables, and I ended up getting an additional couch for more seating.
OUTDOOR DINING
You guys…this is what it’s all about! I never want to forget these summer moments enjoying some delicious dinner outside.
If you want to do something fun and different with your family, try some outdoor grilling on your fire pit! I know your kids will love it!

Can you share the info about your grey pavers out here by the fire pit as well as your front walkway?

There’s so many delicious recipes you have here. The chicken kabob & grilled corn looks really good. Thanks for sharing!
