Cambek Front Door Design

Sharing our front door design from Cambek

Today I’m talking all about my front door! I knew for the new house, I wanted a double door with glass, transoms, and sidelights. In my last house, I had a single door with glass, transoms, and sidelights, so I guess the only thing I’m really changing is adding another door. Here are some images of the front door in our previous house. I love decorating the front porch for different holidays/seasons!

I prefer having transoms and sidelights because the more natural light in the house the better! Let’s pretend I didn’t have transoms or sidelights and my front door didn’t have glass in it. Think about how dark your foyer will be unless you have natural light coming from the other direction of the house. I liked how in my old house, the light was coming in from the front of the house and also the back of the house.

Front Door Inspiration

Here are some pretty front doors I found scrolling through Pinterest and Instagram! As you can see, what catches my eye is glass doors with sidelights and/or transoms. That “look” just gives it that classic feel. At the end of this post, I’ll show you what we went with!

This image right here was actually the inspiration for my old house!

Here are some images of front doors from the inside. How beautiful are these?! Also, look at how bright the foyer is because of the natural light coming in through the door/sidelight/transoms!

As you know, the new house will be white, so I debated whether I wanted to have a light gray blue door or have it stained. I knew I didn’t want the front door to be white because the rest of the house would be white. I wanted the front door to stick out. Here are some stained options:

The stain/look that I fell in love with was this one right here! You guys know I love a good white wash!

With my wonderful photoshop skills using that image above, I whipped up my own version of my dream front door. 😉

I sent my photoshopped inspo image to Lauri from Cambek, and she came up with this design for our front door. I am IN LOVE!! Knowing what the exterior of the house already looked like, she took that into account when designing my front door to create “architectural harmony,” a unity of design and craftsmanship. Cambek can easily design an overhead door, entry door, gate, and shutters to all match and be consistent.

I seriously can’t wait to see my doors in person!
