Thank you Target, one of my favorite brands, for sponsoring this post!
For every birthday, holiday, or special occasion, one of my boys usually asks for LEGO sets. It’s their go-to toy, and I don’t blame them! LEGO bricks have been in our house ever since Christian, my oldest son, was 3 years old. We started off with LEGO DUPLO, and now as a 10-year-old, Christian is doing more advanced sets like LEGO Star Wars. In a world of technology, I love how this gets them away from electronics, and they’re able to use their thinking skills and their imaginations while playing with LEGO bricks. When we had a winter storm last week, I ended up going to Target and getting these two LEGO sets, the LEGO NINJAGO Legacy Overlord Dragon and LEGO City Family House. I knew these would keep them busy!
Christian loves helping Bash with his LEGO sets…that’s what big brothers are for, right? It didn’t take him long to put this together, and I’m pretty sure it would have taken me longer. 😉
Playing with LEGO bricks will keep them busy for hours! While I was photographing them playing, Christian and Bash had people in the LEGO city fighting off dragons and the ninjas saving the day. Whatever LEGO set it might be, all of the characters come into the same “world.” Love their imaginations!
Do you know what I learned while doing research on the history of the LEGO brick? The founder Ole Kirk Kristiansen wanted a catchy name, so he had a contest among his employees. Ole Kirk Kristiansen himself actually came up with the LEGO name. He played with the two Danish words LEG GODT (meaning Play Well) to get the name LEGO. Also, in Latin it means “I put together.” It’s definitely the perfect name for these brick toys. LEGO is a brand that is mom approved!
Christian’s favorite sets are LEGO NINJAGO and LEGO Star Wars, and he’s 10 years old. Bash loves anything LEGO City and LEGO Marvel, and he’s 5 years old. Beckham’s favorites are the same as his brothers, and he’s 7 years old. If you want to see the LEGO sets recommended by age, you can find it here on the Target website.
