bye bye Minnesota
I figured I should probably blog our “bye-bye Minnesota” adventure before I start blogging all the stuff we’ve been doing to our Iowa house!
Before our big move back to Iowa, I decide to plan out an adventure for our family. Places that the kids would love and memories we’ll cherish.
Day 1 (part 1): Stickwork – “Lean On Me”
The hubby and my father-in-law were busy packing so I took the kids by myself on our 1st adventure. I’m trying my best to pass on my love of art to these kiddos so our first stop was going to this lovely piece of art. They loved running through it and of course picking up & playing with random sticks they found!
Looks like the “big bad wolf” is chasing the “3 little pigs”
Then we had lunch at Subway. (their favorite)
Day 1 (part 2): Como Zoo
I then took the kids to see some animals. I actually prefer going here than the Minnesota Zoo. You pay by giving donation, it’s usually not packed when we go, and there’s not as much walking we have to do.
While driving to the zoo, I remembered that I didn’t bring a stroller. I could have gone back home, but in my mind I thought “It’ll be fine. I don’t need a stroller.” Well, I regret not going back home to grab it. Mariah gave me a run for my money. She wanted to do her own thang. It’s like “Girl, where ya think you’re going?” 😛
Well, we tried to take a picture with the gorillas, and Mariah still wanted to do her own thing.
We ended the night with Orange Leaf in their pjs! Daddy and Grandpa joined us for this!
Day 2: Mill Ruins Park / Stone Arch Bridge
Definitely not your typical park! It was chilly that day but that didn’t stop us!
We took apart the bunk beds. I found them like this that night. Even though there’s another twin mattress in there and Dylan has his own bed in his room, they would rather sleep like this on 1 twin mattress. Even Lennon’s “baby” joined. Talk about brotherly love!
Day 3 (part 1): $5 Pizza on the go / Minneapolis Sculpture Garden
We always get $5 Pizza at least once a week or every 2 weeks. Cheap and tasty! We picked up some pizza and ate in the vehicle on our way to the sculpture garden.
Again it was cold out, but the kids enjoyed walking through and checking everything out.
Day 3 (part 2): Izzy’s Ice Cream
Home of the little love on top…the izzy scoop! Dylan loved Izzy’s so much he asked if we can go back on our last day of adventures.
Check out that little izzy cone…adorable.
Day 4 (part 1): Cave tour
We originally were going to go to the Teddy Bear Park in Stillwater, but once we got there, it was closed for maintenance. Thank goodness for Google. I found that there was a cave tour near by at Luna Rossa!
Day 4 (part 2): Leo’s Grill & Malt Shop
What a fun family friendly place. The kids ate all their food and the malts….DELICIOUS!
Day 5: Dylan couldn’t wait to bring cupcakes for his class. They had a going away party for him. Instead of going somewhere on an adventure, we decided it was best to load up the Uhaul and enjoy our last night in our Minnesota home. The kids played games with grandma who was in town to help us move!
Day 6: Bye-bye Minnesota! We had to say goodbye to our lovely home. *tear* Lots of wonderful memories made the two years we lived in Minnesota. PS…I still can’t believe I’m leaving all of that stenciling we did!
Day 7: Hello, Iowa! We took possession of our home in Waukee. I can’t wait to show you all what we’ve done to update it! You’ll just have to watch out for future posts. 😉
