Depending on the year, Nick’s birthday is sometimes on Thanksgiving Day. Lucky him, his 34th birthday was on Thanksgiving 😉 This was the first year we spent Thanksgiving with just our family…our family of six!
Thanksgiving Day was a super laid back day which is SO our family! In the morning, we headed to the grocery store and bought all the ingredients for our Thanksgiving meal, and yes, we totally bought the already cooked, already cut turkey, ready to heat up! Ha! Hey, I never said we were going ALL out 😉 We made our favorites for our Thanksgiving meal and celebrated Nick which means Nick sits back and relaxes while I do everything. That’s how we do birthdays around here!
I really enjoyed celebrating our first Thanksgiving as a family. I remember when we lived in Peoria, IL, all we did was travel. We’d travel to Iowa for my family’s Thanksgiving, and then the next day we’d travel to Nick’s family’s Thanksgiving, and then eventually we would have to travel back to Illinois. Someone had told me, “You know eventually, you’ll have to celebrate a holiday with just your family and make your own traditions.” On Thanksgiving Day 2016, that’s exactly what happened. Now we have 3 separate Thanksgivings 😉 More food, more food comas, more relaxing, and less stressful!
The best part about the day though? We were in our ‘comfy’ clothes all day!…and of course spending it with my faves.
