They started on the beams in the dining room! As you can see we did faux beams in this room. We used real barnwood/beams in our old house that was from an old barn, and for this house, I wanted to do faux beams. With real barnwood/beams, you get that rustic vibe, and for this new house, I wanted the beams to look smooth and cleaner. We partnered with Novo Building Products and Love The Room for the materials to make the beams in the dining room. You can find these at your local Lowe’s!
Our carpenters used 16′ 1×6 poplar boards, and these will be whitewashed instead of stained. Here’s the view from the breezeway.
You can see that they still have to put the bottom boards on some beams. That opening off of the foyer area will have two french doors, transom, and sidelights.
Here’s the view if you’re standing in the foyer. You can see the french doors on the left of this image which will be the doors to go into the dining room.
