Front porch easy diy

Thank you Better Homes and Gardens at Walmart for sponsoring this post!

I’ve been blogging so much of Cecilia’s house that people might think it’s my house! 😉 Today, I want to show you how I decorated her front porch while also doing a quick and easy DIY doormat. They just got their sidewalk and front porch steps completed last month, so no one has really seen their front porch. It’s been neglected for so long that it’s time to show off that area!

There are some fun doormats out there, but you can definitely customize your own! All you have to do is get a plain doormat, outdoor paint or spray paint, and duct tape. I always think spray painting stuff is easier, so I went with that instead of actually painting it. Also, I used duct tape since I’m doing stripes on the doormat, but if you want to do a saying or quote, you can use a stencil from the craft store or create something on a Cricut.

I wanted to do stripes, so I used duct tape to get that look.

Then I used black spray paint and sprayed the doormat. One can was good for this size mat! Once it was dry, I sprayed a clear coat over it.

To bring summer to the space, I knew I wanted to add flowers there. I went with white flowers and white planters since her steps are black.

By now I’m sure you know that Cecilia likes black and white. Since I went with white planters and flowers, I didn’t want everything on the steps to be white. That’s why I went with the black lanterns which come in two sizes. You have to water those plants, so might as well use that watering can as decor in your front porch! 😉

I love the look of rocking chairs in the front porch, but with Cecilia’s modern eclectic style, this Better Homes and Gardens bench was perfect!

To make it feel homey and inviting, you have to add pillows and also a wreath on the front door!

I LOVE how her front porch and the DIY doormat turned out!! What do you think?!
