I’m so excited to be a part of the Better Homes and Gardens at Walmart influencer program for another year! I love everything about this brand, and the best part is that it’s all reasonably priced and budget-friendly! They give us monthly challenges, and for this month, it’s the 10-year challenge. It was fun looking back at old pictures of my decor style 10 years ago. During this time, Nick and I were living in our first house in Peoria, IL. I wanted to share some throwbacks and share how my style has changed decorating a kids bedroom!
First, I want to show you my living room 10 years ago, and I’m pretty sure this was the Trading Spaces era! HA! I definitely picked a color aka red and really went with it! 😉
Now onto the kid’s room! Johannah is my oldest, and her nursery was the first kid’s space I’ve ever decorated. Below are a couple images of her room, and as you can see, I went with brown, tan, and pink colors. I remember feeling SO proud after decorating her nursery. There are definitely things I would change if could go back, but at that time, I thought it was the bomb.com!
Now that Johannah is 11 years old, I wanted to share what her room looks like now with the help of Better Homes and Gardens at Walmart! Good-bye, baby/childish decor and furniture! The focus now is making her room in the rental feel more grown-up and styled for a teenager. I love the boho style that is currently in, so I wanted to mix that with a little bit of farmhouse.
Unlike her old nursery, I like things more light and airy now. I also prefer light brown tones instead of the espresso color and did small hints of pink. The faux fur pillows, pink velvet pillows, and reversible striped pillows are all Better Homes and Gardens at Walmart products!
To continue the boho farmhouse vibe, I put these three decorative trays on the wall. I have a small addiction to trays, especially woven ones! Once we move into the new house, you will see one of these trays either on my kitchen counter or living room! I always have extra faux stems/flowers laying around, so I placed some lavender and greenery in the baskets. In case you’re wondering, the baskets are hung up using command hooks!
My go-to decor items for a nightstand or side table is a lamp and faux flowers. This particular lamp also comes in white, but since I’m doing white faux peonies, I decided to go with the weathered wood lamp.
I’m not even joking when I say that we have SEVEN of these plush blankets in different designs. This blush diamond pattern was perfect for Johannah’s room!
I hope you like the new “look” for Johannah’s room! Love how this teen kids bedroom turned out! It’s definitely a different vibe from her nursery 10 years ago!
